Andrea, Manuela and Irene

Farm l'Orto del Pian del Bosco

A story that bears its fruits slowly, enriching day after day of new experiences.

Andrea started this adventure in 1997 when he decided to start to follow the principles of organic farming, a path that lead him to measure himslef with new sustainable and ethical agricultural practices that will give the earth a new life.
Few years later Manuela joined him; they met at a summer camp and it is there that they fell in love and decided to continue their adventure into organic farming together. Andrea and Manuela's small project started and afterwards the farm 'l'Orto del Pian del Bosco' was born.

Andrea's sister, Irene, comes from a completely different field, the one of architecture. Irene joined the family business and decided to help them in building something for the future.
Together with Irene, the world of preserves began, with organic and sustainable products that come from the most genuine raw materials. They also opened a kitchen, where they prepare jams and preserves produced directly from freshly harvested products.

Today, the 'Orto del Pian del Bosco' is a farmhouse, an educational farm, a processing laboratory, a place where nature is valued and rewarded through the care for biodiversity.
A place where you can always learn something new, experiment and find the best way to give back value to the land.

When we ask Manuela which part of her job she prefers the most, she answers : "diversity, the constant commitment, the feeling of building something for real.
I pick the fruit, prepare the preserves, take care of the farm and I am in full contact with nature. In the afternoons, I spend time with my children."
A union of forces and objectives that have in common love for the family, passion for the land, and committment for the future.

Our lands

Organic farming is based on a correct management of the resources that belong and surround a specific farm. The farmer is an integral part of this environment and collaborates daily with nature in order to maintain its delicate balance and to produce its fruits. The farm "L'Orto del Pian Bosco" cultivates the fields without the use of any chemical fertilizers, herbicides or pesticides; indeed, it replaces them with mechanical interventions or with natural products that are allowed by the regulations of organic agriculture. They carefully follow the principles of Agro-ecology and also try to encourage the development of integrated farming by introducing some useful animals and surrounding the plots of land with hedges and natural areas in which they can live. Andrea, Manuela and Irene firmly believe that in this way they protect the environment in which we live, which is extremely important for present and future generations.
