Ciao!
From Italy with Love…and a lot of organic fruit! 🥑 🇮🇹
Orteat starts shipping organic products from its Italian farmers to some European countries.
Sorry if you find some Italian words or some mistakes, we are working on improving our International website.
In the meantime, we don't want you to lose the chance to try out our farmers' products!
Scented, fresh, but above all delicious: our organic lemons are primarily consumed for their own juice, rich in vitamin C. Moreover, as they are unprocessed, their skin may be used to make sweet creams or liquors.
Due to the fact that they are organically produced, they may have an irregular and unconventional shape with some dark spots too: these are the evidence of nature, of seasonal patterns and of authenticity. For the cultivation of these organic lemons, our producers do not use any synthetic chemical fertilizers or pesticides. We really care about the production system of our producers, who use sustainable practices to reduce the environmental impact of their operations.
The difference between a natural product and an organic one is that the latter is an organically certified product. A product claimed to be “natural” can endure some treatments with synthetic chemical products, as no regulation prevents them.
Our lemons, as all our fruits, are cultivated in open fields with the use of solely natural fertilizers and benevolent farming practices that positively influence soil fertility and structure.
Generally speaking, the cultivation of these citrus fruits happens in more subtropical countries, such as India or some regions of South America, while in Italy they are mostly grown in the southern regions of Sicily, Campania and Calabria due to the all-year long temperate climate that characterizes the area.
What are the Properties and the Nutritional Values of Italian Organic Lemons?
Untreated organic lemons are rich in vitamin C and flavonoids, which help the body combat flu and colds also by absorbing iron.
What are the Health Benefits of Italian Organic Lemons?
Body’s ph balanceing: Lemons help the body balance its pH. Although acidic, these citrus fruits act in the body through alkalizing reactions to ensure that the pH is perfectly balanced.
Intestine help: both lemons and their juice help to stimulate the bowel’s activity.
Liver purification: the lemon, and above all its juice, is considered an excellent stimulant for the liver, thanks to its depurative activity, especially when taken in the morning or on an empty stomach and diluted in a glass of water.
How to eat and use Italian Organic Lemons: quick and easy recipes
The use of untreated lemons can be extremely varied: the lemon peel, for instance, can be used together with ginger to prepare any sort of infusions, or for the preparation of limoncello or custard, given the absence of any treatments during post-harvest operations.
Lemon juice can be used as a dressing for healthy salads with fresh spinach and green leafy vegetables. Lemon can also be squeezed into fresh smoothies and used for natural ice popsicles.
How to store Italian Organic Lemons
Our untreated organic lemons last for several weeks thanks to their freshness. It is recommended to store in a dry and cool place (cellar, terrace, balcony, etc.), placing them in large boxes and avoiding amassing them.
